Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Police stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Police say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
